What keeps you creatively charged as it pertains to your business?
I’m always collecting inspiration without even realizing it. It can come from anywhere—a movie, an old family photo, a hotel lobby, a kid’s summer camp uniform, a pair of faded curtains or a color combination I catch walking down the street. I think I’ve always looked at the world that way.
What do you think keeps things unique?
I trust my gut more than anything. When we’re creating new pieces, the fabric usually leads the way. I’ll find an old textile and immediately start imagining what it wants to become. Sometimes it’s exactly what I pictured, and sometimes it surprises me.
Tell us a bit about your process for sourcing treasures.
People are craving individuality again. Social media has been incredible, but it’s also made everything start to look the same—feeds, closets and aesthetics all blurring together.Every piece I design is one of one. When someone buys it, they know no one else has it and that it has a story behind it. That uniqueness is what makes it special and why people connect with my work. Exclusivity feels like the new luxury. The hunt is my favorite part. Hidden treasures are everywhere if you slow down enough to notice them. I never really know what I’m going to come home with, and that’s part of the fun.
