KEARI SHIBUYA
Founder and designer of Those Seen Dancing thoseseendancing.com

“Respectfully, I don’t always follow the rules,” says bikini designer Keari Shibuya. The stylish girl-about-town turns heads with a personal style that embraces island living with a playful, subversive edge, whether hitting the surf in Waikiki or hosting pop-ups for her bikini brand, Those Seen Dancing. “I’ve always been a bit anti in my approach to fashion,” she explains. “If everyone is wearing the same thing, I try to stay away from it, or I’ll go with a trend but give it my own interpretation.” Shibuya draws inspiration from designers Cult Gaia and Orseund Iris and often chooses men’s clothing, such as her favorite oversize camo-print jacket. Her island wardrobe consists of many easy, versatile pieces, florals, aloha shirts and beachy prints, and she loves supporting other local brands. As for Those Seen Dancing’s newest collection, Shibuya wanted to bring a sense of nostalgia for the bikinis worn in the 2000s. “I’m excited to bring customers back to that iconic era.”

REI RYAN
Founder and principal broker of INFINITE OCEAN Real Estate & Lifestyle Advisors, iohawaii.com

With a background in art history and a passion for architecture and design, Rei Ryan was naturally drawn to the world of luxury real estate. She decided to start her own brokerage firm, INFINITE OCEAN, in 2023, which focuses on luxury residential sales and property management, and often deals with international clients. Now she splits her time between her new home in the Bay Area and her business in Honolulu. Her personal style echoes the city-to-country dichotomy of her life. In Hawai‘i, she sticks to a neutral wardrobe of white, cream, brown and beige, while her California ranch life calls for farm-inspired looks like hunter boots, cozy sweaters and cotton-and-lace embroidery. Ryan is drawn to simple, minimalist silhouettes with high-end accessories from brands like Ralph Lauren, Helmut Lang, Jil Sander, Max Mara and Loewe. “Comfort is essential for me, so I like to prioritize that while still trying to look put together,” she says. As for her style advice? “Find a style that makes you feel confident in your own skin, and honors your unique beauty.”

CRYSTAL PANCIPANCI
Founder & creative director, principal stylist and key makeup artist of PANCI Style, pancistyle.com; co-founder of OriHNL, orihnl.com

Vibrant, colorful, and full of life, Crystal Pancipanci brings her own energy to whatever project she is currently tackling. She has long been one of the islands’ go-to stylists and makeup artists, working in film and television, print media and on campaigns to enhance visual storytelling. Her advice? “Style is self-expression and self-acceptance is the best thing you can wear,” she says. “My ultimate rule has always been: wear your clothes—never let your clothes wear you. Show up, have fun, and live your best life.” Her personal style is colorful, mixing high and low, feminine and structured and often featuring printed maxi dresses or matching sets. Hawai‘i—or the Big Pineapple, as she calls it—is her greatest muse. “I’m forever inspired by this place we call home, where fashion meets island chic and every day carries just a little bit of vacation energy and quiet luxury.” Recently, she co-founded the lifestyle brand OriHNL, which features limited-edition capsule collection tees that highlight different O‘ahu neighborhoods, and she will soon introduce her Makeup Master Classes with PANCI.
