2 min readA slice of Camelot is up for grabs once again. A pending offer has fallen through on the Cape Cod beach house owned by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the eldest daughter of former United States Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, per Realtor.com.
Kennedy Townsend—the first woman to serve as lieutenant governor of Maryland—initially put the five-bedroom retreat on the market in May 2026 for $1.59 million. Less than a week later, she accepted an offer on the Hyannis Port property, which comes with a rear garden designed for entertaining and deeded access to the nearby beach.

The home is located roughly a mile and a half from the six-acre Victorian-style waterfront compound that Kennedy Townsend’s parents, Robert F. and Ethel Kennedy, bought in the 1950s. Growing up, Kennedy Townsend spent summers at the estate, which served as the backdrop for some of the most pivotal moments in American history.
Three years ago, Kennedy Townsend acquired the 3,200-square-foot ranch-style retreat for $1.275 million, per data from Zillow, hoping to continue the tradition of holding big family gatherings for the next generation. “I had a dream that I would recreate the youth, the wonderful youth that I had, for my children and grandchildren,” she told The Boston Globe. “I wanted it to be a place where you could have a number of people enjoy themselves and use the beach and be in a safe place.”
But she seemed to have a change of heart, listing the house before the summer.

Regardless, the three-level home offers all the trappings of a charming beach getaway. Interior hallmarks include bay windows, beadboard paneling, and nautical wallpaper, while the rear garden faces a pond and is equipped with a deck for al fresco dining, a fire pit, and a shed.
