JEN FIELDS MCKAY
There is no denying that the owner of Cookie Monster Vintage (cookiemonstervintage.com) has timeless style.

Ask McKay what her professional titles are and she will likely answer, “Mom, first and foremost. Then vintage curator and chief treasure hunter.” Her mother, Debbi Fields of Mrs. Fields cookie company, and her sister, Ashley, the co-founder of the Fields Good functional cookie brand, might be all about the baked goods game, but McKay doubled down on turning her passion for fashion into a business. Her Cookie Monster Vintage boutique in Bouldin Creek has a loyal clientele that regularly stops in for covetable designer finds from Chanel, Mugler, Dior and more. “This city celebrates individuality, and I think that’s what makes it such a great place to take fashion risks,” she says. When it comes to her personal closet, McKay says: “Eclectic is probably putting it mildly. I have an entire section dedicated solely to vintage sequins. Leopard and animal print are neutrals in my world. I love a beautiful silk blouse, and I own far too many heels. My closet is a reflection of a lifelong love affair with fashion across every era, every mood, and every occasion. Running Cookie Monster Vintage only fuels that obsession.”

BRETT ISHIDA
The artistic director and choreographer of the nonprofit Ishida Dance Company (ishidadance.org) always puts her best foot forward.

Named after a principal female character in Ernest Hemingway’s novel The Sun Also Rises, Ishida is exemplary in her own right. She was raised in California and began ballet before leaving home at 15 to train at Kirov Academy in Washington, D.C., and the School of American Ballet in New York City. Ishida danced professionally with several North American companies, then moved to Austin and established her contemporary dance company in 2019, recruiting top talent and earning praise from critics. As soon as Ishida emerges from behind the curtain for a prologue—typically looking chic and edgy in a long gown and strappy stilettos—her audiences anticipate a dramatic, thought-provoking and fashion-forward show. “I design the costumes, and I have someone make them,” Ishida says, sharing a woodcut Wuthering Heights image that inspired a coat with metal epaulets worn by a danseur in her last production, Waiting/REX. Audiences will not have to wait long for more of Ishida’s genius on stage: Another Austin performance is slated for a late January debut.

These women are set to bring sartorial glamour at the 2026 Twilight on the Trail fundraising gala at Four Seasons Hotel Austin on October 18.

Though locals and visitors alike relish the lovely 10-mile Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail, they might not know they have the Trail Conservancy’s (thetrailconservancy.org) Twilight on the Trail Committee to thank, in part, for its appeal. “As soon as I moved to Austin, I found the Trail,” says Madeline Meyer, who has co-chaired the committee for three years. “And that is where I found most of my friends.” The 501(c)(3) has donated more than $25 million since its founding in 2003 to help protect and enhance Austin’s primary attraction, arguably. Those pictured here, along with other committee members Katie Bartholow, Jackie Buechler, Sarah Dalidowitz, Kelly Frye, Heather Metzinger, Sheena Paul and Shonnery Pettit, are dedicated to raising funds for the effort.
