Miley Cyrus made no secret about who inspired her Bass Persuades song “Let’s Get Married.” Her fiancé, Maxx Morando, is her co-star and love interest in the music video. The lyrics themselves capture this moment of their love story as they prepare for their next chapter, along with the gratitude they both feel to have found each other. In the first verse, Cyrus sings, “Baby, don’t blink, keep staring at me instead / What did I do to deserve you?”
In the second, she reveals he feels the same way about her: “I’ll turn your arms to my bed / Then he said, ‘Baby, what did I do to deserve you?’”
News of Cyrus and Morando dating broke in January 2022. While they’ve kept their relationship mostly private, Cyrus spoke about what she loves most about him during her interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe this week.
“There’s a whole list of things,” she answered. “I can’t read you my vows, but the number one thing I think that I noticed from the beginning was, we talked about the kind of wisdom of a child and just like their unknowing is what makes them so brilliant. That’s what I love about Max the most. I’ve been able to be in the room with some of the greatest producers and songwriters and artists of all time, and they know too much. They’ve lost their questioning and their searching because they know the answer.”
Cyrus also spoke about “Let’s Get Married” during the interview. She compared the dream pop track to the album’s other songs “Snow” and “Aftermath,” saying it is important “because there is a sense of this poetry, which I love.”
She added, “I think I either try to say things in the most beautiful way possible or just spit it out. So this is a spit it out with some dreamy lyrics that give you beautiful visual cues like diamonds dancing on me. That one feels very me, and it has some of the things I love about dreamy, ethereal pop music like a Beach House or Cocteau Twins [song]. But it also has some of the ingredients that, you know, like a song like ‘Flowers’ has. I think it’s a song that people will feel like it’s their own. Certain songs don’t do that. ‘Flowers’ is one of my favorite cases of that ever happening. ‘Wrecking Ball’ has that too, to hit thing. I’ve noticed when people are like, that song feels like it was written for me.”

Godspeed, forever ahead
Baby, don’t blink, keep staring at me instead
